Graeme founded State of Play in 2012. His current work focuses on understanding and advising on business strategy for the global resources industry at the nexus of economics, social and technology change. Graeme is based in Western Australia, travelling widely to support the development of strategies for most of the major mining companies over the past 15 years. A PhD in Engineering by training, Graeme has developed an industry-wide reputation as one of its leading thinkers.
Paul is an original member of the State of Play team, supporting its development and growth since 2012. He is responsible for the analysis and authorship of the biennial State of Play survey reports and CEO Perspectives report focusing on the nature and role of strategic level innovation in the global resources industry. Paul has over a decade of experience advising companies on strategy, technology and innovation – particularly in mining and oil & gas – across Australia, Europe, Africa and North America.
Xavier leads State of Play’s activities in Europe, working with the broader team to conduct research, analysis and writing for State of Play publications. Xavier has experience in advising organisations on strategy, business model design and innovation, particularly with mining and utilities sectors. An economist and political scientist by training, Xavier has worked with a range of organisations aiming to catalyse innovation in the resources industry.
Madi is Analytics Lead for State of Play, responsible for conducting analysis on innovation strategies that are driving the global resources industry. Madi completed her Bachelor degree in finance and accounting, and has experience in Corporate Finance, having previously worked for CBA. Based in Perth, she works with the State of Play team on advising a range of mining and utilities organisations on the next economic, social and technological industry developments.
Michelle Keegan is an experienced and highly respected mining industry innovator, overseeing the development and application of emerging technology solutions at major global miner South32. More specifically, Michelle is responsible for leading the identification, design and delivery of technology and innovation for greenfield projects and the translation for brownfield operations. Michelle regularly gives time to mentor those early in their careers and is a champion for diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
Nicholas is a Research Analyst with State of Play, with a strong background in international trade and mining strategy. Prior to joining State of Play, he worked as a Project Officer for the Department of Transport, and has a background in economics, finance and Southeast Asian languages. Nicholas has also interned with the Perth USAsia Centre and Newcrest Mining, and was recently awarded the New Colombo Plan Scholarship to work and study in Indonesia next year.
